Perdido Key, Florida is an unincorporated community just a few minutes away from Pensacola, Florida. Perdido Key is bordered by Orange Beach, Alabama to the west. Perdido Key is primarily a tourist destination, with a number of Gulf-front condos attracting vacationers and second-home buyers. There are golf courses, resorts, and pristine beaches all over town, some of which are undeveloped and protected as part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore.
Perhaps Perdido Key’s most popular attraction is the Flora-Bama Lounge & Oyster Bar. This traditional American roadhouse is a must-see destination for visitors to both Perdido Key and Orange Beach. Every year, Flora-Bama holds an event called the Mullet Toss, which draws in thousands of people to take part in a competition to see who can throw a dead mullet the farthest over the state line into Alabama. This weekend-long event is full of fresh seafood, cold drinks, prizes, and live music.
